Sunwindow ranks café and restaurant terraces near you by the minutes of direct sunlight they have left today, calculated from real building shadows and lidar-measured building heights. Search any street, postcode or place in the Netherlands and the sunniest terraces appear first.
Will it rain on the terrace today?
Every terrace shows a live rain forecast and a Buienradar radar nowcast for its exact location, next to today's hourly cloud cover, so you can see whether the coming hours stay dry before you sit down.
How does Sunwindow calculate the sun on a terrace?
It traces the path of the sun across the day and tests, minute by minute, whether nearby buildings block the sunlight at each terrace, using exact lidar-measured building heights from the 3DBAG dataset. It is real geometry, not a rough estimate.
